LEVELMETER 2000

The LEVELMETER 2000 has been developed as an intelligent Hand Terminal together with the digital sensors of the ZEROTRONIC-family and as a display unit for the electronic inclinometers MINILEVEL  NT and LEVELTRONIC NT. Apart from the high precision, the measuring instruments ZEROTRONIC- sensors, MINILEVEL NT and LEVELTRONIC NT feature in particular that the measuring signals are  provided in digital form and can therefore be transmitted over a long distance without loosing accuracy.


Function:

The LEVELMETER 2000 can be used in combination with all sensors of the ZEROTRONIC-family as well as with the measuring instruments MINILEVEL NT and LEVELTRONIC NT.


The LEVELMETER 2000 serves as

  • Display unit
  • Interface between the measuring instrument(s) and a PC
  • Service instrument for calibration (ZEROTRONIC-sensors only), and changing addresses of the sensors and measuring instruments connected


The LEVELMETER 2000 enables the settings or modifications of parameters, such as

  • Measuring unit displayed
  • Address of the instrument / connection of sensor (port)
  • Filters
  • Relative base length, etc.


The LEVELMETER 2000 can be used in combination with all digital WYLER instruments (excluding instruments from of the BlueSYSTEM family). All the relevant data, such as

  • Calibration data
  • Address of instrument
  • Zero-offset, etc.

are memorized in the respective measuring instruments. The LEVELMETER 2000 serves as an  interface transferring data via a serial port (RS232) to a PC/Laptop or any other output device. The measuring data can also be treated by software, e.g. LEVELSOFT PRO, MT-SOFT or LabEXCEL.


The LEVELMETER 2000 offers the possibility of displaying the measuring value of single sensors or measuring instruments or also the difference between two sensors or instruments. For differential measurement the two measuring instruments respectively sensors must be connected to the two ports „A“ and „B“. A differential measurement between two instruments connected to the same port is not possible. The following display settings are basically possible:

  • Measuring with one of several instruments connected to port „A“
  • Measuring with one of several instruments connected to port „B“
  • Differential measurement between two instruments connected to the ports „A“ and „B“
  • Alternating display of one each of several instruments connected to the ports „A“ and „B“


The function „LIMITS“ allows to set an upper and a lower limit value. As soon as the measuring  value exceeds, respectively under-runs, this limit an alert will be given on the display and a  corresponding signal on the OUT-port (open-collector output).

  • Measurement of angular deviation between spindle and other elements of a machine tool

MACHINE TOOLS / ROTATION CHECKS

Measuring task / Goal:
A machine tool must be checked on possible geometrical deviations. The check must show up eventual rotations of the table during displacement. The measurement of geometry should be made in a quick, reliable and simple procedure ant thus with a good cost-benefit effect.

MEASURING - CALIBRATION / FLATNESS MEASUREMENT, ANGLES

Measuring task / Goal:
The calibration of granite master squares should be performed as easily and efficiently as possible. The equipment used should offer a good cost-benefit relationship and requirements regarding the qualification of staff should be as moderate as possible, enabling workshop staff to easily make use of the system.

POWER SUPPLY SECTOR / ALIGNMENT OF LARGE PUMP SHAFTS

Measuring task / Goal:

  • The horizontal positions of the connecting lines between the bearing faces on the bearing ring for the stator must be checked. The flatness and the fully horizontal position of the bearing ring must be assured.
  • The pump housing, one floor below, disposing of a round reference face must also be adjusted fully horizontally

The centre points of the pump shaft and the drive shaft of the motor must be aligned to each other in order to assure that the transmission shaft flanged in between can work free of any bending moment.

AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY / ADJUSTMENT OF COMPONENTS

Measuring task / Goal:

  • Two radar platforms must be aligned in one plane and precisely parallel to the reference platform
  • Two sophisticated navigation instruments must be aligned in one plane and precisely parallel to the reference platform
  • The „Stall-indicator“, a special warning device, must be precisely set in a predefined angle in relation to the reference platform.

The measurements must be performed while other teams are also working on the same aircraft.

MACHINE TOOLS / SPINDLE ALIGNMENT

Measuring task / Goal:
The deviation from the right angle between the two working positions „horizontal“ and „vertical“ must be determined.

 

This measurement is required during the assembly, the error correction by scraping when the unit is mounted on a temporary frame with doubtful stiffness as well as during the final inspection of the ready mounted machine tool.

 

The measuring uncertainty must not exceed two seconds of arc. Calculations involved must be possible without the aid of a computer.

For a guideway not only its straightness but also its deviation from the horizontal plane shall be measured. Furthermore it should be determined where and how much should be corrected to adjust the guideway horizontally.

CONTROLLED CRADLE TO LIFT AND PLACE PAYLOAD FAIRING OF A ROCKET

Measuring task / Goal:
The balancing and weight distribution cross at the head of the cradle should be monitored in both axes. Deviation from horizontal alignment must be visualized at the cranes control panel. Thresholds in each direction limit maximum allowed misalignment. Overshooting the limits must activate an alarm and disrupt the lifting action. The display unit should facilitate manual corrections of the centre of gravity alignment by joystick. Failures of the monitoring system must be signalled by alarm condition.

VERTICAL ALIGNMENT OF MEASURING PROBES ON A STRAIGHTENING MACHINE

Measuring task / Goal:

All 3 probes have to be in an absolute vertical position. The acceptable tolerance for this measuring task is ±0.04 mm/m. In order to achieve this, the probes have to be adjusted vertically in both axis.
Note: this adjustment is only required after an exchange of the probes.

LARGE GRINDING MACHINE WITH FLAT GUIDEWAYS

Measuring task / Goal:

On a surface grinding machine with 18-meter-long guideways set 1.3m apart, the co-parallelism of the two guideways has to be checked periodically. The guideways have to be within a plane with a maximum tolerance (error) of less than 0.1 mm. The complete machine and its guideways can be adjusted by means of supporting screws placed at 750 mm intervals.

The flatness of a rotating table of a grinding machine with a diameter of
3200 mm has to be measured. Thereby only the flatness of a circle has to be measured and not the whole table.

MEASUREMENT OF PITCH AND ROLL ON A GRINDING MACHINE

Measuring task / Goal:

On a large surface grinding machine with guide ways with a length of 18m and a distance of 1.3 m pitch and roll have to be checked regularly. The maximum tolerance is 0.1 mm/m.

Measuring task / Goal:

The rectangularity of the axis of a grinding head of large grinding machine in relation to the support of a round table with a diameter of 3200 mm has to be measured. Based on the results the inclination of the head has to be adjusted.
